FSi was the mechanical and fire protection engineer for a TI for the new Way Station and Whatcom County offices. The project renovated Whatcom County’s 1500 N. State Street building in Bellingham. The $11.5M project included core and shell improvements, along with tenant improvements on multiple floors for the primary tenants – the Way Station, County medical examiner, and other County offices.
The Way Station is a collaboration between Whatcom County, Peace Health, and Unity Care NW, providing services for people experiencing homelessness. The Way Station includes a clinic with medical and behavioral health care, along with a testing lab and respite care for people recovering from a medical event. The Way Station also provides hygiene and laundry services, case management, and support for transitions to stable housing.
The project also included TIs for offices for the County EMS, Medical Examiner, Health Department, and the GRACE and LEAD Programs.
