Ship Maintenance Facility

US Navy, Naval Station Everett

FSi was the prime consultant and mechanical engineer for a new shore intermediate maintenance facility (SIMF). The project converted a 56,000 sf warehouse with mezzanines into a shore-side maintenance facility for repair of ships docked at Naval Station Everett. The facility includes machine and welding shops, calibration labs, a specialty area for divers, and 8,000 sf of offices. FSi also coordinated the installation of 600 pieces of government furnished shop equipment ranging from a 10,000-pound lathe and a divers’ decompression chamber, to small testing gages and instruments. A specialized engine test facility provides load testing for vehicle exhaust, engine cooling water systems, and fuel oil systems.
