Sumas Border Control Station

Department of Homeland Security

FSi was the mechanical engineer for a new $9.2 million border patrol station with offices, a detention facility with sally port, an exercise area with a locker room, and support spaces. Our scope included the HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the 20,000 sf facility. Special ventilation systems and controls were designed for the detention area to allow for varying outside air flow and smoke evacuation. The design-build project met a fast-track schedule.
