Sound Transit South Link Extension
FSi was the mechanical engineer for the 1.5 mile extension of Sound Transit South Link from the Sea-Tac Airport to the Angle Lake Station at South 200th Street in SeaTac.
FSi is provided HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for the Angle Lake Station, and fire protection for the tracks. The project met all Sound Transit design standards, as well as the stringent City of Seattle energy code. The project targeted LEED Silver certification but earned LEED Gold, so our team exceeded expectations with energy-saving features with solar-ready rooftop connections, a cistern to collect rain water for landscaping, natural ventilation for the elevator shafts, and an energy-efficient HVAC system for station offices. The Associated General Contractors of Washington (AGC) awarded PCL Construction Services a Build Washington Award for Construction Excellence for the Angle Lake Station Project (Design/Build), in the $5M-$15M category.
The new station opened and celebrated with a grand opening on September 24, 2016.
