Atlantic Transit Base HVAC Upgrade

King County Transit

FSi was the prime consultant and mechanical engineer for the renovation of the Maintenance Building at King County Transit’s Atlantic Base. The $4,000,000 project replaced all airflow, ventilation, and heating systems in the steam cleaning bay, paint bay, and main shops with vehicle exhaust. The design provides 100% outside air for the ventilation of shop areas and heat recovery for energy efficiency. The project provided a propane back-up heating system. FSi designed upgrades to exhaust systems to provide consistent air flow and capture. The project added a boiler to heat offices, and replaced the office, and locker room air conditioning systems. All new DDC controls were added to the facility to provide tighter temperature control, temperature setback during unoccupied hours, interlocks to disable heating/cooling systems when the high bay doors are open, and building monitoring for greater energy savings.
