We are a full-service mechanical engineering firm

with specialized expertise.

FSi consulting engineers is a mechanical engineering firm founded in 1985. We are the prime consultant for the majority of our work, so we understand the big picture and know what it takes to make a project successful. We are flexible designers and project managers, interested in what you want and committed to finding the solution that works best to meet your goals. As problem solvers by nature, we enjoy projects that require a unique solution – whether it’s a first-of-its-kind industrial process, or incorporating mechanical upgrades into an existing building.

Most of all, we enjoy what we do, and bring enthusiasm to each of our projects.

You are very proactive, and thinking ahead of us on the issues. You coordinate quite well with your consultant team, and your team has all the right people at the table. I am impressed with how you have worked through the mountain of details. You find solutions to problems when I expected the design team to say ‘no we can’t.’ It is obvious the design team is at the top of its game.

Sustainable, energy-saving design: it’s what we do every day.

FSi consulting engineers is committed to high performance building design that saves energy, water, and operating costs. We have specialized expertise in energy modeling, commissioning, energy auditing, and meeting the requirements of sustainable rating systems that verify performance; we have designed mechanical systems for projects meeting LEED, Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol, Built Green, and Green Globes standards. Our projects routinely exceed building code requirements for energy and water efficiency, often by 30-50% or more.

With this expertise, we have worked on more than a hundred LEED projects, one certified Living Building (and another in the works), and have also helped clients improve building performance on projects where LEED is not required. For example, FSi worked extensively with King County in its successful campaign to reduce total building energy use by 10%. The City of Seattle has set an ambitious goal of reducing building energy use by 20% by 2020 under the federal Better Building Challenge, and we provided building assessments to identify strategies to meet that goal.

120+ LEED Projects and Counting.

We have provided mechanical design and support for dozens of LEED Platinum, Gold, and Silver projects. Our LEED services include efficient mechanical systems design, commissioning, energy modeling, and airflow modeling for natural ventilation. We’re experts in the LEED process and are routinely called in to assist as a third party reviewer for projects in the LEED appeal process.

awesome people
and organizations.
