US Postal Service On-Call Services
US Postal Service
FSi has been the mechanical engineer for over 100 renovation projects for the US Postal Service over the past two decades. We have worked in USPS facilities across the state, providing studies, documentation of existing systems, cost estimating, peer design review, HVAC design, plumbing, piping systems, and design for new construction.
USPS is committed to saving energy, and requires that we analyze all upgrade options for each project above a $100,000 MACC on a 20-year LCCA basis. Our LCCA studies give USPS the information they need to make informed decisions about first cost, operating costs, and energy use for their facilities. Using this methodology, we have designed cost-effective upgrades that reduce energy use by 30% or more in postal facilities, relative to the lowest first cost systems.
Examples of our projects with USPS include:
Edmonds Main Post Office (MPO) Boiler Replacement FSi was the mechanical engineer for the replacement of an oil-fired hot water boiler with a modern gas-fired boiler.
Ellensburg MPO HVAC Replacement FSi was the mechanical engineer for HVAC upgrades. The project replaced the air conditioning system, re-commissioned the heating and ventilation system, and added controls for energy efficiency.
Pasco MPO Air Compressors FSi was the mechanical engineer for higher capacity air compressors to allow for future expansion.
Zillah MPO HVAC Replacement FSi was the mechanical engineer for the replacement of the air conditioning system.
Yakima MPO Air Compressor Replacement FSi was the mechanical engineer for higher capacity air compressors.
Seattle MPO Chiller The Seattle downtown post office had an unexpected summer chiller failure. FSi was the mechanical engineer for a fast track evaluation and development of documents for the chiller replacement and related upgrades.
Eugene Processing and Distribution Facility FSi was the mechanical engineer for the criteria and construction cost estimate for the design/build remodel of an 85,000 sf processing and distribution facility and new construction of a 70,000 sf addition to the facility.
Seattle Bulk Mail Processing Facility FSi was the mechanical engineer for the study, report, and cost estimating for the addition of new conditioned space to a parking garage.
North Bend Postal Office FSi was the mechanical engineer for the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
