Seattle Housing Authority Headquarters Data Center Study

FSi provided mechanical consulting services for the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) for a data center cooling system study at the SHA’s headquarters building.

During the summer of 2003, SHA experienced outages of the critical server equipment due to overheating in the data center. FSi was hired to study and report on how to provide better capacity and redundancy in the cooling equipment serving the data center and an adjacent space scheduled for expansion. FSi analyzed the performance of the underfloor air cooling system, estimated future cooling loads, and identified single points of failure that require redundancy.
