Alaska Street Building

The Alaska Street Building, a 15,000 sq. foot facility, which houses the Washington State Services for the Blind, underwent two phases of renovation.

The first phase involved the replacement of an existing chiller and evaporative condensor located in the boiler room with a new exterior air-cooled chiller. FSi provided detailed design for the installation of the underground chilled water piping and chiller. FSi acted as Washington State’s representative during construction. The second phase of work was a $1.2 million project with major mechanical upgrades including a new boiler, multi-zone triple deck air handler, fans, pumps, DDC controls and a fire sprinkler system. In addition, the existing wood shop dust collector was replaced with a higher flow return air system with explosion vent and spark detection system.
