Domestic Hot Water Heater Replacement

As the prime consultant, FSi is replacing the existing electric boilers, which are 20-25 years old, with high- efficiency gas- fired water heaters at 16 different senior and low-income apartment buildings.

The apartment buildings range in size from six to 16 stories and anywhere from 53 to 126 units. The boilers serve the domestic hot water system at each building. In an effort to increase efficiency the old units are being replaced with high- efficiency units. Special consideration was given when routing the flue vent and combustion air to and from the boiler rooms, and routing the natural gas piping to the boiler rooms, since there was no existing gas at any of the sites.
