Details about a few other projects.
- Clallam County Courthouse and Jail HVAC Controls Upgrade FSi the prime consultant on this project to replace the existing pneumatic controls for this 100,000 square foot courthouse and jail for Clallam County. The 25- year old facility uses control technology that is out of date and difficult to repair, and a new DDC system will allow for more precise control, easier maintenance, and decreased energy usage. FSi prepared the design documents to accomplish the replacement and supported the county in their efforts to select a vendor that would be responsive to the county’s needs FSi also managed the construction process.
- Heating and Cooling Plant Consolidation for Pierce County Administration and Corrections As a sub-consultant to a design/build contractor, FSi provided mechanical support to study and report on the consolidation of the heating and cooling plants for this existing County-City administrative and correctional facility. Additionally, the larger building was heated by electrical boilers, which are deteriorating and expensive to operate. In a fast-track study, FSi helped develop the best option for consolidation of one 1,600 Boiler HP heating plant and one 1,900 ton cooling plant. FSi developed schematic diagrams and drawings to coordinate special conditions in the tight existing space and to allow realistic pricing by the contractors.
- Work Order Contract for King County Solid Waste Division FSi has provided a variety of engineering solutions on this contract which started in 2003. Projects include:

- South Storm Water Pond Conversion at Cedar Hills Landfill

- Evaluate Fire Pump Bypass at Enumclaw Transfer Station
- Upgrade Pump Stations #2 and #3 at Cedar Hills Landfill
- Bremerton Transportation Commission Sinclair Ferry Landing FSi was the engineering firm chosen for the design-build contract to supply domestic water, pumped sewer and firewater services for the high-speed passenger-only ferry terminal. The design involved special attention to the utility connections due to the three-dimensional motions provided by the floats, which served as the landing platforms. Domestic and firewater services were provided using a single pipe to save on installation costs. Special consideration was given to integrating backflow protection and freeze protection of the single water main.
- Pierce Transit Bus Maintenance Facility Methane Ventilation and Detection FSi was the prime consultant to Pierce Transit for this project, along with providing the mechanical and electrical design. The project scope included designs of the sensing, control and ventilation systems for protection against compressed natural gas leaks inside the Pierce Transit bus maintenance facility. The design included 90 sensors to detect natural gas LEL%, PLC controls to activate the exhaust fans, audible alarms, visual alarms, and electrical shunt trip for the building at the 50% LEL.
